Morris Lamont Chestnut Jr. was born on January 1, 1969. He comes from a family of three and is his parents’ only child. His father’s name is Morris Chestnut Sr. while his mother’s name is Shirley. Morris Chestnut is from Cerritos and attended Richard Galar High School. He played football in high school and was so good at it that he even aspired to get a college scholarship and then make it to the NFL. That aspiration didn’t work out as planned, but Chestnut was undeterred. He finished high school in 1986 and enrolled in college to major in finance and drama. He attended two colleges – Long Beach City College and California State University, both in California.
Morris chestnut began his acting career in 1990. His very first role came in the form of a guest appearance on the TV series Freddy’s Nightmares: A Nightmare on Elm Street in February 1990. Unlike many actors who have a long wait for their big break, Chestnut had lucky that he got his big break after a year in Hollywood. This came out in the iconic 1991 film, Boys Around. In the film, he played the role of a teenager named Ricky Baker who relies on his soccer skills to escape violence and gang culture on the streets. The film had a cast of budding A-listers, including Nia Long, Angela Basset, Ice Cube, Regina King, and Cuba Gooding Jr. The film received numerous awards and has since been kept on the National Film Registry for its cultural significance.

His films include The Best Man, The Brothers, Two Can Play This Game, The Game Plan, The Perfect Vacation, Think Like A Man, Identity Theft, The Best Man Vacation, The Perfect Guy, When the Branch Breaks,and many more. The Best Man is one of Chestnut’s unforgettable films. In the film, he plays the role of an NFL star named Lance Sullivan, who discovers that his bride-to-be slept with his best man while she was in college. He initially cancels the wedding, but reconsiders after his friends convince him. The film received numerous awards and did well at the box office. It also became a sequel titled The Best Man Holidays in 2013.
Morris Chestnut has also enjoyed a successful career on the small screen. He has been featured in TV series such as Nurse Jackie, V, America’s Horror Story: Murder House, Legends, Rosewood , and The Enemy Within. Rosewood is a police procedural drama in which Chestnut plays the lead role of Dr. Beaumont Rosewood, a sought-after private pathologist. He uses his skills to assist law enforcement in solving crimes. Morris has received four NAACP Image Award nominations and won one. He won the NAACP award for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series in 2014.
